Comments for 1999 Solar Eclipse Tour

Dear Atacan and Mehmet,
In 1999 whilst numerous of my friends headed off to Cornwall to view the eclipse I headed off to Turkey. I chose a tour organised by Rockvalley travel based in Urgup in Cappadocia,after an early departure we headed to.Turhal a site which our tour guides had chosen for the best vantage point to view the eclipse from..We set up on the top of a hill just outside the townwhere we were treated to a wonderfull picnic barbecue cooked for us by a team of ladies from Urgup then we settled down compleat with special glasses to view the eclipse.
We had the most spectacular view and as the sky grew darker we were all dazzled by the strangeness of the occasion the spectacle was something I will not forget.The trip was made all the more special by the diversity of my fellow travellers, people had come from all over Europe and the middle east some professional eclipse watchers others like myself who had simply gone out of curiosity.On arriving back to our hotels we all got together for a traditional Turkish night of dancing.
I will be looking forward to the next trip in March 2006 this time accompanied by my family.

I was fortunate to have stumbled on RockValley Tours while participatng in an architectural echange program that had me in Turkey for 3 months. When I heard that they where organizing a solar eclipse tour- I knew friom my previous experience that the tour would be lovely. We traveled in fashion to the viewing site and had a wonderful time with the residence of Amasa and the group of Urgup residence that came too. I am looking forward to making this trip again in March and will be bringing a gaggle of friends who want to see what I am always carrying on about- the beauty that is Turkey.
